West Village is full of lovely small restaurants. One of those are Nourish Kitchen + Table on Greenwich Ave. This tiny little place offers an in-season and locally-produced menu.
They present their menu on Facebook every day however arriving to the place the menu may have changed somewhat due to sold out items. But rest assure there are plenty to chose from as the chef and staff is continuously adding items. It was really hard to pick what to eat as everything looked so fresh and good!
They have a basic menu and you basically put together your own meal by choosing one of the Combo plates or Mix & Match. I picked the Standard which was 1 protein and 2 sides.
In my case the protein was Harissa Chicken which if I understood from the conversation was their signature dish. The chicken from a local farm was so juicy and tasty. One can also order a whole chicken and take home for dinner. Good to know for future!
As my sides I picked Farro with mushrooms, thyme, truffle oil, pecorino romano. Yup, if a dish has truffle I most likely will pick it! And Kale salad with crispy quinoa, pomegranate seeds, dried plum, shallots, gouda and pecorino cheese. My friend picked the Mix & Match with Split pea soup, Chicken sandwich with apple-parsnip slaw and the Kale salad.
I can honestly say that all was very delicious. And the crispy quinoa was a little surprise. It added a nice crunch to the kale salad. Can’t say I have had crispy quinoa before so something new for me. And no worries they do serve both wine and beer!
We really had a hard time picking what to eat so we both also brought home their Mushroom Hunter’s tartine with roasted fennel, mushroom-thyme-walnut spread, and parsley.
So for dinner I disassembled the tartine and re-toasted the bread, quickly sauteed the toppings and put it back together again.
Remember Life is too short to not eat and drink well!
