Last week my sister, niece and I went down to our parents in Florida. And I must say now in November it was quite nice to take some time off and leave cold Toronto and head down to the warm and sunny weather!
When down in Florida I love when we take the boat out and go fishing! After a couple of hours of fishing it is time for lunch and our favorite place to take the boat is a place called Cabbage key.
Cabbage key is located on a lovely island northwest of Fort Myers, southwest of Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. (More exactly it is across from marker 60 on the Intracoastal Waterway!) Only way to get here is by boat! But if you don’t have your own there are water taxis that will drive you! At lunch time it can get quite crowded and the best seats are of course at their outdoor seating! Or if it is very hot it is nice to sit on their old porch in the shade.
We love their burgers! They have other stuff on their menu too but I don’t think we ever had anything else than their burgers! And looking at plates of other guests, their burgers seem to be very popular also among others!
Yes, this is really a hamburger in Paradise! Great tasty burgers, with or without cheese and served with coleslaw or potato salad. And the best view one can ask for!
I think that most people who has ever been to Cabbage Key has at least once marked a one-dollar bill with one’s name marked on it and taped it to the wall! And the bills keep on getting over taped with new ones! So even if I posted one on the wall down there in April, it was already covered up with new ones! Good hint, take a picture of exactly where you post your bill or you will never find it!
