When I first arrived to Toronto I got recommended to go to La Société on Bloor Street West as it is in my neighborhood Yorkville. So one day I decided to have lunch here. And since then this has become my favorite place to eat!
I have had brunch, lunch and dinner and this far never been disappointed. The waiters are attentive! It is close to my home! The food is delicious! They serve champagne by glass! And of course they serve oysters! I also love the way they present their food!
One of my favorite dishes in Belgium and northern France is Moules Frites – Mussels with french fries! At La Société their mussels from P.E.I (Prince Edward Island) are steamed with saffron, leek and shallots! The sauce is so delicious! Dipping some bread in the sauce is to die for!
The fries are extra crispy and served with garlic mayonnaise! I love mayonnaise to my fries! And I just love the presentation! The little basket the fries are served in is adorable!
Another favorite is steak tartar! Just like in France here it is served with chopped meat and not the finely minced meat that I got too often. And of course has the traditional raw egg yolk on top! And in this case a Quail egg! And of course a mustard and caper dressing!
The restaurant is a French inspiring bistro with an interior that takes me back to France! Of course it is in Canada so there are some Canadian dishes on the menu too! Like their French vanilla waffle on their brunch menu! And that is another great dish! But I’ll write about their brunch dishes another time!
Remember Life is too short to not eat and drink well!
